Frequently Asked Questions
What is this program? Is it exercise?
Short answer is No. You wont be doing burpees or squats but we do look at utilising certain muscles which need to lengthen or strengthen to help get your pelvic floor muscles more active. We start with your feet and work our way up your body to ensure that we have optimum alignment and efficiency from all muscle groups and associated fascia. Dont worry though……this is all explained as we go along.
Can this program fix my Pelvic Floor Dysfunction?
I am always very carefull not to claim to ‘fix’ anyone. However, many women have had great success when following my program. Just like with anything else in life, what you put in you will get out. You will need to do the work, be conscious of your movements and have a true desire to change the way you have operated before. To see a change you must make a change.
My last baby was years ago, will this still help me?
Yes, over the years I have worked wth many people – some of whom have never given birth – including men. Pregancy and giving birth are not the only reason you may experience pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) but it is common. My program can help anyone experiencing the symptoms, it’s just that I have decided to focus my efforts on working with women.
What equipment do I need?
Nothing special! Ideally you’ll have a cleared space near your screen to follow along and practice some movements. At the start of some sessions I may suggest that you grab a household item (such as a towel etc) but as this isnt a live feed you can always hit pause and grab what you need. We wont be using weights etc.
Can't i just do a bunch of Kegels (pelvic floor contractions) every day to fix it?
If it was that simple you wouldn’t be searching for solutions, right?
Unfortunately Kegels are not effective for many people experiencing Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. Throughout the program I explain why it can, in fact, make your situation worse.
Isn't it normal to experience drops of urine when you sneeze etc?
Short answer is, no.
While it is common to experience Sneeze Wee or Cough Drops – especially after childbirth – it is not ‘normal’ for this to continue for an extended period of time. Despite what the TV advertisments for adult nappies would have you believe, it CAN be treated and most people do not have to resort to wearing pads for the rest of their life.
Let’s not confuse ‘common’ with ‘normal’.
